Looking for a Reliable Electrician in Leeds?

A socket stops working. The fuse board keeps tripping. You have just bought an older house and want to know if the wiring is safe. Whatever the reason, finding an electrician you can trust takes a bit of care.

Leeds has a wide mix of homes. There are Victorian terraces and back-to-back houses in areas such as Armley, Burley and Harehills. There are 1930s semis in Moortown and Roundhay, rented flats in the city centre, and new-build estates on the edge of the city. Older homes often have older wiring, so the right electrician for a quick socket repair may not be the right one for a full rewire or a landlord safety check.

This guide looks at 10 electricians in Leeds worth comparing. We used each business's own website where we could find one, plus Companies House and public directory listings. It is a starting point, not an official ranking and not a guarantee of quality. We have not tested any of these firms.

When you get in touch, say which part of Leeds you are in and whether the job is urgent. If the property is rented, say whether you are the landlord, tenant or managing agent. That can change who needs to approve the work and what paperwork you need.

Our List of 10 Electricians in Leeds

Here is a quick look at the businesses in this guide. We have not ranked them. The order is the order of our list.

The first six have their own working websites, so we could read what they say about themselves. The last four are different. We could find only a directory entry, so those write-ups are short. Ratings and review counts for those four are what a directory showed, not something we checked.

1. Fletcher Electric

A North Leeds firm with a clear focus on testing and rewires

Fletcher Electric is based in Meanwood and describes itself as a local business serving North Leeds. Its website is run around electrical safety testing, including EICRs, inspections, PAT testing and condition reports.

The company is registered at Companies House as Fletcher Electric Ltd. It was incorporated in August 2013 and the record shows it as active. Directory listings add that it covers rewiring, consumer unit replacements, socket installations and fault finding for both homes and businesses. Those listings are not run by the firm, so treat them as a guide.

On its own website, the company says it is an NICEIC Approved Contractor for Part P work. It also says it holds public liability and public indemnity insurance. One directory listing instead names NAPIT, and another names ELECSA, so the sources do not agree. Ask the firm which scheme it is registered with and check it on that scheme's register.

The website says owner Matt Fletcher has worked in the trade for over a decade, and that it has five star reviews on Google and Yell. We did not see the reviews themselves on the site. A FreeIndex profile showed 21 reviews, mostly five stars, when we looked in October 2026. A directory listing dated April 2026 showed a 5.0 rating from 92 reviews. These sources count differently, so check the latest feedback yourself.

The website does not mention emergency call-outs. If you have an urgent problem, ask before you rely on it.

A good place to start if: You live in North Leeds and want an EICR, a consumer unit change or a rewire from a firm that focuses on testing.

Website: fletcherelectric.co.uk

2. Lee Electrical Services

A Harehills firm that lists a wide range of jobs

Lee Electrical Services is based on Beck Road in Harehills. Its website says it covers Chapel Allerton, Roundhay and surrounding areas, and mentions Leeds and West Yorkshire more widely.

The services it lists include full and partial rewiring, EICR reports, consumer unit upgrades, cooker connections, lighting upgrades, security lighting and ceiling fan installation. It also lists commercial, industrial and agricultural work. That is a broad list, so it is worth asking how much of its day-to-day work is in homes like yours.

The website says the business is NAPIT registered and Part P registered, and that it is fully insured. It also says it has been trading for more than 15 years and offers a 24/7 emergency call-out with an engineer on site within two hours. Those are the firm's own claims. We could not confirm any of them. Ask about response times for your postcode and whether a night or weekend call-out costs extra.

When we checked in October 2026, the website showed a 5.0 rating from 71 Google reviews, with six testimonials displayed. A directory listing dated April 2026 showed 5.0 from 60 reviews. The difference is likely just time passing, but read the recent reviews yourself.

We could not find a Companies House record we could tie to this business. It may be a sole trader. That is not a problem by itself, but ask who you are hiring and who holds the insurance.

A good place to start if: You are in Harehills, Chapel Allerton or Roundhay and want to compare quotes for a rewire, lighting or an EICR.

Website: lee-electrics.co.uk

3. Wired Electrical

A Chapel Allerton business with a long list of services

Wired Electrical is based in Chapel Allerton and says it serves Leeds and surrounding areas, and customers across Yorkshire. Its website lists emergency electrical work, rewiring, EICRs, EV charger installation, PAT testing, security lighting, alarms, fire detection, data cabling, home battery storage and solar panels.

The site shows an NICEIC Approved logo. It gives no certificate number, so we could not match that to the register. If NICEIC matters to you, ask for the number and check it on the NICEIC website.

The website says the team is available 24/7. A directory listing also shows the business as open all day, every day. Neither tells you how fast someone will arrive or what it costs. Call first and ask.

The website does not show reviews or say how long the business has been trading. A Google rating of 5.0 from 50 reviews appeared on one directory page, and a WotsItCalled listing dated April 2026 showed 5.0 from 55. Another directory showed 5.0 from only 5 reviews. The counts do not match, so look at the reviews themselves.

We found two phone numbers on the website and could not find a Companies House record tied to the business. Check which number to use and ask who the contracting business is.

A good place to start if: You are in or near Chapel Allerton and want an electrician who also offers extras such as EV charging or home batteries.

4. Reach Electrical Ltd

A newer company covering North Leeds and Harrogate

Reach Electrical Ltd is registered at Companies House with an address on Allerton Grange Crescent in Moortown. It was incorporated in July 2023 and the record shows it as active. That makes it a young company, though the people running it may have worked in the trade for longer. The website does not say.

The website says it does residential and commercial electrical work, from repairs to larger projects. It covers Leeds, Harrogate and North Leeds. It shows an NICEIC Approved Contractor logo. We did not check the register, so ask for the registration number and look it up.

The reviews quoted on the site mention jobs such as bathroom extractor fans, sockets, cookers and hobs, kitchen wiring and an outdoor supply. That suggests everyday home work. The site does not mention emergency call-outs, so ask if you have an urgent fault.

When we looked in October 2026, the site showed a 5.0 rating from 60 Google reviews, with 10 displayed. A directory listing dated April 2026 showed 5.0 from 41 reviews.

A good place to start if: You live in Moortown or elsewhere in North Leeds and want a home electrician for sockets, cookers, lighting or kitchen work.

5. SmartWired Electrical Contractor

For board changes, EV chargers and landlord work

SmartWired Electrical Contractor Limited is registered at Mabgate Business Centre, near the city centre. Companies House shows it as active and incorporated in March 2021.

The website lists consumer unit changes, full and part rewires, EV charger installation, EICRs, landlord electrical services, commercial work, fire alarms, emergency lighting and 24/7 emergency call-outs in Leeds LS postcodes. It also mentions payment plans for some larger jobs, subject to status. Read the finance terms carefully before you sign anything.

It says it is NAPIT approved, TrustMark registered, BAFE registered for fire alarm work and an approved EV charger installer. Its accreditation panel includes a UKAS logo. A directory listing says NICEIC, but the firm's own site does not. Ask which scheme covers the work you want, then check that scheme's register.

One point needs a question. The website says the firm has over 20 years of experience, but the company was only set up in 2021. That may be the experience of the people involved, or an earlier business. Ask them to explain.

When we looked in October 2026, the site showed a 5.0 rating from 173 Google reviews. A directory listing dated April 2026 showed 4.9 from 130 reviews, and Trustpilot showed 4.3 from 8 reviews. The mix is a reminder to read more than one source.

A good place to start if: You want a new consumer unit, an EV charger or landlord testing from a firm with a registered company behind it.

Website: smartwiredelectrical.co.uk

6. Pyramid Services (Leeds)

A family-run firm working in Leeds and Wakefield

Pyramid Services has a Leeds office at Mabgate Business Centre and a Wakefield address. Its website says it is family run and has been trading since 2009.

The services listed include home rewiring, fuse box upgrades, EV charger installation, extension wiring, lighting and outside lighting, emergency lighting, EICRs, landlord testing and PAT testing. It also lists fire alarm testing, thermal imaging and commercial work.

The site shows logos for NAPIT, CHAS and Safecontractor. It does not mention NICEIC, although one directory describes it as NICEIC registered. Do not rely on the directory. Ask the firm and check the register of the scheme it names.

The website advertises 24/7 electrical services in Leeds and Wakefield. As always, ask about response times and charges before you need them.

The site shows an Excellent rating based on 46 reviews. A directory listing showed 4.9 from 105 Google reviews, dated April 2026. Yorkshire.com showed the same figures. These come from different places, so look at the recent feedback yourself.

A good place to start if: You want to compare a firm that covers both Leeds and Wakefield for rewires, testing or landlord work.

Website: pyramidserv.co.uk

7. GH Electrical Leeds Ltd

A registered Leeds company, with limited public detail

GH Electrical Leeds Ltd is registered at Companies House with an office at City West Business Park on Gelderd Road. The record shows an active private limited company, incorporated in April 2015, with accounts filed up to March 2025. You can check the Companies House record yourself.

We could not find a website for this business. A directory listing says it does general electrical repairs and installations, including burglar alarm installation, for homes and businesses. It lists weekday hours from 8am to 5pm. The listing also showed a 5.0 rating from 29 Google reviews on 5 February 2026. We did not see the reviews themselves, and we could not find any accreditation statement for the firm.

Because there is so little public information, the best step is simply to call. Ask what scheme it is registered with, whether it covers your postcode, and whether it takes on the type of job you have. The registered address is in LS12, so it is likely to be a good fit for West Leeds, but ask.

A good place to start if: You are in Holbeck, Armley or the west of the city and want to ask a registered local company about a repair or installation.

8. Bates Electricals

Only a bare directory entry found, so check everything

We could find very little about Bates Electricals. A directory entry lists an address on Kirkdale Crescent in LS12 and a mobile number, with hours of Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm. It shows a 5.0 rating from 21 reviews as of April 2026.

The directory gives no services. The website address on that listing opened a blank placeholder page when we looked, so we have not linked it. We found no Companies House record, no Checkatrade or Which? Trusted Traders profile and no registration listing for the name. The business may be a sole trader, or it may trade under another name.

None of that means the business is poor. It means we cannot tell you what it does. If you want to consider it, ask what work it does, which scheme it is registered with, and for proof of insurance. Check any registration number on the scheme's own website before you agree to a job.

A good place to start if: You live in West Leeds, you already have a recommendation for this business, and you want to find the right questions to ask.

Directory listing: Bates Electricals on WotsItCalled

9. P J M Electrical

Another thin listing, so confirm the basics

P J M Electrical appears in a directory with an address on Borrough Avenue in Roundhay. The listing shows a landline number and a 5.0 rating from nine reviews as of April 2026. Its opening hours were inconsistent on the page, so we have not repeated them.

One other directory describes a firm called PJM Electrical as family run, based in LS8, NICEIC registered, and insuring and guaranteeing its work. We cannot be sure that listing is the same business. It also showed a phone number that another page attached to a different company. We found no website, no Companies House record and no independent reviews.

If you want to consider P J M Electrical, ring the number on the directory entry and ask for the full business name, the scheme it is registered with, and its registration number. Check that number on the scheme's website. Ask what jobs it takes on, and whether it covers small repairs as well as larger planned work.

A good place to start if: You live in Roundhay or Oakwood and are building a longer shortlist of local names to ring.

Directory listing: P J M Electrical on WotsItCalled

10. Flora Electrical Services

A directory listing in Chapel Allerton, with an unverified website

Flora Electrical Services is listed in a directory with an address on Stainbeck Lane in Chapel Allerton, a mobile number and a 4.7 rating from 46 reviews as of April 2026. The listing says it is open 24 hours a day, but gives no services. These details come from automatic data collection and may be out of date.

The listing links to a website. When we tried to open it, the site redirected to an unrelated website, so we have not linked it. We found no Companies House record, no trader profile and no independent reviews. We cannot say what the business does or confirm that it still trades.

If you would like to consider it, start with a phone call. Ask for the business's full name and address, what work it does, and which scheme it is registered with. Check that registration on the scheme's website. Be careful about paying a deposit before you have seen proof of registration and insurance.

A good place to start if: You are in Chapel Allerton, you have been given this name by someone you trust, and you want to check it before booking.

A Few Things to Check Before Hiring an Electrician in Leeds

Once you have two or three names, compare them. A little effort here can save money and stress.

Check their qualifications and registration

Ask which scheme the electrician is registered with, and for the registration number. Then check that number on the scheme's own website. A logo on a website is not proof.

The GOV.UK guidance on competent person schemes explains how to find a registered installer and links to the Electrical Competent Person Register. Many jobs, such as new circuits or work in bathrooms and kitchens, have to meet building regulations. A registered electrician can certify their own work. If they are not registered, ask who will notify building control, because that route is separate and may cost extra.

Read reviews from other customers

Do not stop at the star rating. Read recent reviews for punctuality, tidiness, communication and how the firm handled surprises. Look for reviews of jobs like yours. Be careful when different sites show different numbers for the same business, as several did in this guide.

Ask for a written quote

Get two or three quotes for planned work. Check that each one covers the same job. Look for labour, materials, testing, certificates, VAT and any call-out fee.

Confirm what paperwork you will receive

Depending on the job, you may get an Electrical Installation Certificate, a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate or an Electrical Installation Condition Report. Ask which one applies and whether it is in the price. Keep these papers. A buyer, a lender or an insurer may ask for them later.

Check they cover your part of Leeds

Leeds is a big city, and traffic can be slow. A firm based in Meanwood may not want an evening job in Rothwell, and a firm in Holbeck may not cover Otley. Give your postcode when you ring. Ask about travel charges and out-of-hours rates.

Be careful with older homes

Terraces and back-to-backs are often rewired in stages. They can have old cables, few sockets and cramped fuse boards. Ask the electrician to explain what they find before they quote for anything big, and ask what is urgent and what can wait.

What Is an EICR, and Do You Need One?

EICR stands for Electrical Installation Condition Report. An electrician inspects and tests the fixed wiring in a property and reports on its condition. It can show damage, wear and anything unsafe.

An EICR is useful in Leeds for several reasons. Many homes here are older, and wiring that was fine decades ago may now be worn or lack modern protection. If you are buying an older house, an EICR can help you see what you are taking on. If you let a property, it is a legal duty.

In England, landlords must have the fixed electrical installation inspected and tested at least every five years. This comes from the Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector (England) Regulations 2020. Landlords must also give tenants a copy and carry out any required remedial work in the time the regulations set. Leeds is in England, so these rules apply to rented homes in the city.

Read the official GOV.UK guidance on electrical safety standards for the full detail.

When you book an EICR, ask three things. Is the report included in the price? What happens if it finds faults? Is the repair work quoted separately? A report that says "unsatisfactory" is not a disaster. It means something needs fixing.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does an electrician cost in Leeds?

It depends on the job. Changing a socket, finding a fault, doing an EICR and rewiring a house are very different amounts of work. Access, materials and whether you need an urgent visit all affect the price.

The simplest approach is to describe the job clearly and ask for a written quote. When you compare prices, make sure each electrician is quoting for the same work. We have not listed prices here because we could not check them.

How do I find an emergency electrician in Leeds?

Start with firms that say they offer emergency visits and cover your postcode. In this guide, Lee Electrical Services, Wired Electrical, SmartWired Electrical Contractor and Pyramid Services all advertise 24/7 or emergency work on their own sites. These are their own claims, and we have not tested them.

Call first. Ask how soon someone can come and what the call-out costs. If you see sparks, smoke, a burning smell or exposed live wires, keep clear and call 999 if anyone is in danger.

What should I do if a socket smells hot?

Stop using it. Switch off the circuit at the fuse board if you can do so safely, and keep clear if there are signs of heat, smoke or damage. Do not remove the cover yourself. Get a qualified electrician to look at it. If there is immediate danger, call 999.

Can an electrician check a property before I buy it?

Yes. You can ask for an EICR on a home you are thinking of buying. Tell the electrician it is for a purchase, so they can advise on the right level of testing. A report will not replace a full survey, but it can help you spot wiring problems early and negotiate.

Do landlords in Leeds need an EICR?

Yes, in most cases. Landlords in England covered by the 2020 regulations must have the fixed wiring inspected and tested at least every five years. They must also give tenants a copy. Check the latest government guidance for the rules that apply to your tenancy.

Should I hire a small local firm or a larger company?

It depends on the job. A small local firm can be a good fit for a repair or home upgrade. A larger firm may suit a bigger project, such as commercial work or several jobs at once. Whichever you choose, check registration, insurance, written pricing and recent feedback.

What should I ask before booking?

Ask whether they cover your postcode, are registered for the work, can give a written quote and will provide the right paperwork. Also ask about the start date, payment terms, extra charges and any guarantee on the work.

Final Thoughts

Finding an electrician in Leeds does not have to be hard. Start by working out what you need, whether that is an urgent fix, an EICR or a bigger project.

Then narrow the list to firms that cover your area and do that type of job. Read recent reviews, check the registration on the scheme's own website and compare written quotes.

If you want a firm with its own website and a lot of detail, Fletcher Electric, Lee Electrical Services, Wired Electrical, Reach Electrical Ltd, SmartWired Electrical Contractor and Pyramid Services are the ones where we could read what the business says about itself. GH Electrical Leeds Ltd is a registered company with little public detail. For Bates Electricals, P J M Electrical and Flora Electrical Services we found only directory entries, so ring and check before you commit.

This is a list of options worth comparing. It is not a ranking. There is no need to choose the first name you try. A few simple checks can help you find someone who suits your home, your budget and the job.

At LocalListed, we want to help you find local services and make better choices. We hope this guide gives you a useful starting point for finding an electrician in Leeds.

Editorial note: This guide uses publicly available business information, websites and directory listings reviewed in October 2026. LocalListed has not independently tested these businesses. Service areas, reviews, registration details and availability can change, so confirm them directly with the company before booking.
