Web design for UK businesses
Sites for businesses that have not got one yet. from £900, one off, no contract.
We can show you the market, not just describe it
This site is a UK business directory built from open data, holding 55,823 listings across 16 cities. That means the advice on these pages is grounded in a count rather than an assertion — and it differs by city, which is the useful part.
Counted from this directory, sourced from OpenStreetMap. A business whose website we have not recorded shows as having none, so treat these as a floor rather than an exact figure.
What you get
from £900one off, no contract · 2 to 3 weeksA site that loads fast, reads properly on a phone, and tells Google what you do and where you are. Handed over on your own domain, in your name.
We reply by email and read every enquiry ourselves. Nothing is charged from this page.
How it actually goes
A conversation, about an hour
What you do, who rings you, and what they ask before they book. No brief document, no discovery invoice.
Content, which is the real work
Five pages needs roughly 1,200 words. Almost every website that stalls stalls here, so we would rather write it from the conversation than wait for it.
Build and review
You see it on a real URL, on your own phone, before anyone else does. Two rounds of changes included.
Launch and handover
Pointed at your domain, form tested, notes written. You should be able to leave, so we make sure you can.
Web design by city
Each city page carries the real figures for that market. Ordered by how many listings we hold, not by how much we would like to sell there.

Questions
- How much does a small business website cost?
- Ours start at £900 for up to five pages, and most land between £900 and £2,000 depending on page count and how much writing you want done for you. Quotes of £5,000 and up usually include design work, ongoing retainers or bespoke functionality rather than a bigger version of the same site. Below £500, ask who owns the domain and hosting afterwards.
- How long does it take?
- Two to three weeks from the point we have your content, and the content sets the pace rather than the build. Gathering roughly 1,200 words and some photographs takes most people longer than building the pages takes us.
- Will a new website put me at the top of Google?
- No, and nobody can promise it. A new site does not outrank an established one for being new. What it does is make you findable when somebody searches your name, give Google something to show, and give a customer somewhere to check your hours. For most local businesses the faster win is the Google Business Profile, which is why we sell that separately and cheaply.
- Do I own it afterwards?
- Yes. Domain and hosting in your name from the start, handover notes another developer could work from, no ongoing fee unless you ask. Being unable to leave is not a feature.
- What if I already have a website?
- Then rebuilding it is often not the best use of the money. If the current site loads reasonably and works on a phone, fixing the Google Business Profile usually moves more than a redesign. We will say so rather than quote you for a rebuild.

Not sure any of it applies yet?
The cheapest useful thing for most local businesses is the £149 google business profile fix — a one-off, no retainer. We would rather sell that first.
What it coversWho you would be dealing with
The same people who built this directory. That is the portfolio at the moment: 55,000 UK business listings, the search behind them, and the data work that keeps them accurate. There is no client list on this page because there is not one yet, and inventing one is not something we are willing to do.
What that buys you is a low price and direct contact with whoever does the work. What it costs you is the reassurance of a case study. If that trade is wrong for you it is a reasonable thing to decide, and an established agency with a portfolio is a perfectly sensible alternative.
Being listed in this directory is free and buying anything from us changes nothing about where a business appears in it. The organic order is not for sale.
